2014 Finish #3: Sherbet Pips Chevron & On Quilt

I saw this pattern in the Quilty magazine (March/April 2013) and knew exactly which fabric I was going to use.  The pattern is called “Chevron & On” and is by Megan of Canoe Ridge Creations.  It was only after I made the quilt, did I realize that Megan works at LQS near me.

51gX2QxwTEL._SX258_BO1,204,203,200_I had been hoarding my fat quarter bundle of Aneela Hooey’s Sherbet Pips for a year or so.  I knew I wanted a pattern that would have blocks big enough to show the character of the fabric.

My quilt top has been done for a month or two and kept getting pushed further down my to-do list.  Maybe the snow and winter weather inspired me – I decided to quilt it over Christmas break on January 2nd.  (I also quilted my Gnome Herringbone quilt that day.)  I usually commit to doing 2 quilts to make it worth my drive and time.

I am a binding procrastinator.  It only took a week for me to get the binding on.

IMG_1136I don’t have a great full length picture of the my Sherbert Pips quilt due to weather.  MN has been in a Wind Chill Warning all day.   Didn’t think it would be fair to my quilt model to stand outside while I get the perfect picture.

Update:  New photo has been accomplished!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.

great finish + I love that quilting design!!

  2. this is such a pretty quilt! I really dislike hand stitching, so if I committed to hand binding my quilts, I think they would sit for awhile too. So, I machine bind all of my quilts!

Thank you so much for sharing at Needle and Thread Thursday!
