I fell in love with Freshly Pieced’s Cathedral Square pattern. I saw it in Quilt magazine, April/May 2013 and knew that I would make that quilt. Around the same time all of the Christmas fabric was being released, seemed like it was meant to be.
I am not a fan of flying geese. I do have the Wing Clipper ruler. It is really a great help. I used to struggle with making sure that I still had the point when I sewed them together. This ruler allows you to trim the block to the proper size and keep a ¼ of fabric above the point.
I did modify the pattern by adding an extra row to the quilt.
The long arm quilting was done early in December. I had hoped to get the binding on before the end of the year, but life and the holidays got in the way. Due to an extended holiday break because of the freezing weather in MN, I was able to use one of my snow days to complete it.
I apologize about the poor quality picture. It was cold out and my husband wasn’t excited about being outside holding a quilt. I don’t blame him. I have requested that he grow longer arms so I can get the full quilt in pictures.
