2014 Finish #6: Joy Fire Escape

Have you ever been so happy with a quilt that you made the exact quilt again?

This quilt has a twin!  I made this exact quilt for my mom for Christmas 2012.  I was so sad that I was going to be giving it away.  So I made another one just like it for myself.

Confession time:

  • Sometimes I get stuck on a pattern and make multiple versions.
  • I have a weakness for Christmas fabric.

I have made 4 versions of this quilt pattern, Terry Atkinson’s Fire Escape.  Two were made from Kate Spain’s Joy fabric line, one from Basic Grey’s Blitzen fabric, and one in Riley Blake’s Colorful Christmas.

It is hard to see, but the quilting is Christmas tree bulbs.  How perfect is that for the Joy fabric?!

I really like how the binding pulls it all together.

In fact, I am cuddled up in my Blitzen version as I write this post.

I truly don’t need that many holiday quilts.  The Joy Fire Escape quilt will be given as a thank you gift.  My husband is giving this gift to a farmer’s wife in South Dakota.  The farmer and his wife allow Les and his brother on their land to hunt coyote.  This is a quilt my husband “commissioned” me to make – he paid the long-arming fee.  Once again, I am sad that this quilt isn’t staying with me.  I really like the Joy fabric and the pattern together.

Another quilt retreat finish!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.

I can see why you would want to make more than one, very neat design and love the fabrics!
