MN Quilt Show 2014

The 2014 MN Quilt Show has some great classes this year.  The show rotates between 4 cities in MN.  St. Cloud, MN will be hosting the show from June 11- 14.  There are speakers, classes, a quilt show, and plenty of vendors.  The  MN quilt

I went to the MN Quilt Show in 2011, hosted in St. Paul.  I took a beginner’s quilting class.  This was so helpful, I learned so much about basic piecing.  My quilts became so much accurate.  It was great to take a class in person, you can only learn so much from youtube videos.  I tend to ask a lot of questions.

This year I convinced Julie to go with me and take a couple classes.  Julie has been to the quilt show part of the event, but hasn’t taken a class there before.

We both joined the MN Quilters associate.  Classes are a bit cheaper and you can register for the classes before others who are not members.

On Thursday, June 12, we are taking the Discover the Joy of Paper Piecing – Lucky Star Four Block with Elizabeth Dackson of Don’t Call Me Betsy.

Foundation paper piecing is a great way to piece intricate blocks. Elizabeth will show you how through tips and techniques to master foundation piecing. She says it is a joy rather than a headache!

Friday’s class, will be Kaleidiscope Crash Course with Marti Michell.

The Kaleidoscope pattern is easy to make, but because of the design possibilities, even advanced quilters enjoy Kaleidoscope style blocks and variations. Learn the basic block in class – open the door to unlimited variations. Discuss design and color possibilities. It eliminates making templates, simplifies accurate cutting and can be used for many different size blocks.

I am so excited to take these classes.  It is always nice to get away, learn a new skill, view some amazing quilts, and shop quilt supplies!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.
