WIP #6 Lots of dots baby quilt!

Even though I am trying to complete my Triangle Quilt Along, I couldn’t resist cutting into this beautiful stack!

The pattern I am following is In Color Order’s Arithmetic.  There are 3 different sizes to cut the fat quarters:  2.5″, 4.5″ and 8″ squares.  The pattern also give helps you lay out the quilt in baby, throw, twin, double, queen, and king.  Lots of options!!

I decided to make the baby size quilt using 4.5″ squares.

After taking the picture, I realized that there was too much pink on the bottom left.  Moved a few pieces of fabric and the problem was solved!

The missing pieces on the left are going to be the large white dots on pink.  The bottom right blank spot will be a gray multicolor plus sign.

Back in the box until I get a chance to sew and get the last pieces of fabric.

A minky back would be make this such a a cool baby quilt!  Can’t decide whether to go with the bright pink, the baby pink, white, or gray.

Binding will be the grey fabric with all of the different color dots.  The fabric has been ordered and shipped!

Have you noticed that I haven’t been finishing too many of my WIPs?  Hopefully May will get at least one or two WIPs done.  I am thinking the Moda Bake Shop Fairground Scrumptious quilt and a Tula Pink Kiss Kiss quilt that is all ready to be sewn together.  All of the blocks are done and has been laid out – just need to finish it!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.

Love that stack of fabric! I would eventually like to do a plus quilt like that. Add it to my list…

For some reason I often see arrangement problems better in the photo than on the design wall. The small change made a big difference.

Starting a new quilt is always fun and what a great stack to have. I too need to get some WIPs done too!

    • There is something about cutting into freshly pressed fabric! Love it! I try to finish one WIP for every project that I start. Well, at least that is the plan… doesn’t always work out that way! Found a few more WIPS while trying to destash. Whoops!

I love those fabrics, are they a specific line or just pulled from your stash?

    • The fabrics are from a fat quarter bundle. It is the Robert Kaufman Spot On Silver Spoon Bundle. I am a sucker for dot fabric. Stop back soon, I made quite a bit of progress on it this weekend!

  5. beautiful fabrics and quilt. I always think it’s neat that a photo can pick up color placement issues when my eye doesn’t.

Thank you so much for partying at Needle and Thread Thursday!
