Is anyone else excited to have a long weekend? Not only do I get time to sew, but it also means that the school year is almost over! When we return to school after Memorial Day, we are down to single digits: 7 school days! We have 3 regular class days and then 4 days of finals and wrapping up the school year.
This summer is going to busy!! There will be minimal school work and lots of time for me to do what I want. Traveling and quilting are the top priorities for June, July, and August. Doesn’t sound like the summer could get any better!
The past few weeks have been busy, but I was able to complete a quilt top. The Lots of Dots baby quilt had turned into more of a toddler quilt. The size is a bit odd: 56″ x 60″.
The goal for Memorial weekend is to finish up some of my WIPS this weekend before summer officially starts. Plus I have a long arm quilting appointment June 1st – I should have a quilt or two ready to be long armed.
WIPs that are on the agenda for the weekend:
- Cherry Christmas quilt top & backing
- Cutting the different fabrics for Elizabeth Dackson’s Paper Piecing Class
- Moda Bake Shop Scrumptious & backing
- Avalon Block of the Month FQS
- Parisville Kiss Kiss – posts and pictures will happen soon.
- Organizing the sewing room – the before post can be see here.
- Putting more fabric for sale on Instagram
The list is subject to change if I get a flight of fancy to start something new. Or if I decide, I need to go to a fabric sale at one of my favorite quilt shops, Olive Juice Quilts in LaCrosse WI. Plus graduation party season is upon us. My nephew’s party is this Sunday and my niece’s party is the following Saturday.
Honestly, I would be happy to check any of those WIPs off my weekend to-do list. I am linking up to Crazy Mom Quilt’s Finish it Up Friday.
Have a safe and happy Memorial Weekend! Don’t forget to pay tribute to one of the many vets who sacrificed much to make our country what it is today.
