Turning 40 isn’t so bad… for my friends!

Last year I embarked on making 40th birthday quilt for my girlfriends.  There are 5 of us ladies who have been friends for over 20 years now.  We are scattered across the U.S. in Boston, Denver, Phoenix, and Minneapolis.  We don’t get to see each other often enough, but we make time at least once a year to get together.  I decided that I would make a quilt for each of the ladies.  Three of the quilts have been completed and gifted this past year while each one was still 40.

Cathy’s was an easy delivery being she is in Minneapolis.  I see the quilt in many background photos of her new little baby boy, Simon.

Cass visited Minneapolis over Thanksgiving weekend.  I called her to let her know that I had made her a quilt.  This way she could bring a bigger suitcase to return home with the quilt.

Caroline’s was sent to her in Denver via USPS.  She flew into Minneapolis in December, but she always has her suitcase packed full.

I still have one left to make for Amy in Boston.  Amy is still in her 40th birthday year until late September, so I still have a little time yet to make the quilt.  It is definitely on my summer to-do list!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.
