I am surprised that I had any finishes with such beautiful weather this past weekend. I don’t remember a Memorial Day weekend that had such a great weekend weather wise. There was talk of rain after sundown a couple of nights, but the rain held off. After such a long winter, it felt nice just to sit outside and feel the sun.
Even with the great weather, I did get some sewing done. I caught up on a couple of tv shows and finished 2 quilt tops!
I thought I had more small squares for the border. See what happens when you start a project, then put it away for a year. I had the required 11 blocs for the 2 opposite corners. The pattern has an appliqué vine with flowers in 2 corners. The Cherry Christmas doesn’t really scream flowers to me.
Do I leave the corners empty or is it too bare? Should I attempt to appliqué something else? A present? A tree? Christmas stocking?
The backing is the gray washline fabric. How cute is this? I was pleasantly surprised to see how the seller wrapped up the product.
I really like the whimsy of Aneela Hoey’s drawings. I need to figure out which long arm pattern to use. The patterns available weren’t quite right. The winter theme patterns were too perfect – not sketchy at all like Aneela’s drawings. I may wait to quilt this until I find the right long arm pattern. I have a few months before the holiday season kicks in!
