I have looked at the Rock Candy pattern by Jaybird Quilts so many times.
The peppered cottons remind me of Oakshott cottons, just a bit darker. I had only seen these fabrics online. The computer screen really can’t give you an accurate view of how amazing these fabric are. I saw the kit while on my mini MN shop hop and couldn’t resist it!
I bought the kit, right down to the exact thread that they used! I don’t normally quilt on my domestic machine, but the shop sample was quilted with variegated thread. It was a simple straight line a ¼ in from the edge of the fabric. I think I can handle this! I’ve only quilted a few mug rugs.
Rocky Candy Top:
I knew that I had bought the sidekick ruler. I even spent time cleaning up my sewing room in my quest to find it. I knew that I had put it somewhere “safe”. Of course, I figured it out after I was all done cutting. I used the template from the pattern. As I was laying in bed trying to sleep, I remembered that I had bought the ruler in a Quilty Box purchase, a monthly quilt product club. Next morning, I found it right away! Isn’t that how things work, you find the item after you are done!
I must really like a pattern if I buy the same pattern 2 separate times!
This is all of the extra material from the kit I purchased. I am betting that I could get 3 if not 4 more from that kit. I have to admit, that I much prefer having plenty of extra fabric. I have been at the other end of the spectrum and been shorted on fabric in a kit. What a pain in the ass! Delays the project, especially for someone like me that tends to sew late at night.
Love it!! Next up quilting and binding!
