Fall Quilt Retreat #1 Recap

November is quilt retreat month.   The LQS has a great retreat 3 times a year at a local hotel. Julie and I attend the November and February quilt retreat with a few ladies from Stewartville.  This year, Julie was on a cruise and couldn’t attend. Our group was smaller with 7 of us.

I was amazed at all of the women there by 9:30 a.m.! I thought I was ahead of the game until I saw that 2/3rd of the 120 women were already making progress on their projects. By the time I was all set up, ladies had finishes and purchased all of the purple batik mystery quilt kits.

On top of my to do list was the Honey Honey Ritzy Cracker Quilt.  I have previously blogged about the dilemma/hot mess it became.

This led me to create a plan B.  Remember I mentioned that all of the purple batik mystery quilt kits were gone.  They did have a hydrangea kit with green and purple accents.  Marian loves purple – it is her color.   I was able to cut and start sewing the quilt top while at the retreat.

I cut up 2 fat quarter bundles of mint condition. The pattern I am using is called side braid.

I shut down early both nights by 10.  Julie and I are usually part of the late night crew.  On Sunday, I only went back to pack up my stuff.  I was exhausted and my hands were throbbing in pain.  I was disappointed, but I got more cutting and sewing done than I had in months.

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.
