Hey Baby Hey Baby Hey

No doubt this little blanket is going to a special little baby!

The quilt is for one of my best friend’s sister.  When you have been friends with someone over 20 years, you get to know their family.  Cathy’s sister Becky had previously been pregnant and lost the baby at 20 weeks.  It was a very tough loss followed closely by the sudden death of an in-law.

Everyone is thrilled that Becky was able to get pregnant again and have no complications with this pregnancy.  I believe he will be the best Christmas present ever!  This little baby will be so loved and cared for.

Pattern: Coming soon by Thimble Blossoms
Fabric: Storybook by Kate and Birdie
Size: 40 x 40 inches
Backing: White Minky Cuddle 3

The pattern is quite simple and the quilt top could be done in a day.  There was directional fabric in the kit, so it took me a little longer to make sure the castles, ships, and hot air balloons were upright.

The binding is all ready to go!

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to long arm quilt this until January.  The owner of the long arm business has a daughter getting married this weekend and Christmas parties are in full swing.  I may have to set up a marathon appointment and use 2 machines at the same time.  I have a couple baby quilts that need to be quilted, I might just roll the minky forward  and place the next baby quilt on the long arm without having reload a backing.

p.s. Had a total dumb moment when I saw this kit at the LQS.  The title is “Coming soon” as in a baby would be coming soon.  I read the tag on the sample as the kit/pattern would soon be available in the shop.  That’s right, it was all right in front of me and I couldn’t quite get that in my mind.

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.

I’m a bit jealous of your sewing time and the fact that you were able to put this together in one day!

Very nice – I like this fabric!
Looks modern and childlike at the same time!
