Cherry Christmas Redux: I couldn’t let it go…

I was faced with a dilemma and I couldn’t just let those blocks in the quilt any longer.  I was very glad to have the quilt top done, but I would have been unhappy knowing that the center blocks were a bright white.

I got a lot of support from the blogsphere that encouraged me to quilt it as is.   I don’t think a lot of people would have noticed or even commented, but I would know it wasn’t quite right.   I figured it was worth the time to take out the blocks and put the correct white in.  I spent too much time and money on a quilt to be disappointed with it.

So here is the new and improved version!

The blocks were a bit tedious to put back in.  I am hoping that a wash after quilting will “settle” the blocks and shrink up any extra fabric.

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.

Looks good! I know it would have really bothered you if you would have left it!

On a quilt that I have been working on (paper pieced) I found a mistake that I had made when I used one strip of a different background fabric than the others. I debated about it for a while, but then decided to leave it in because it wasn’t hugely noticable and I thought it might even be like a suduko puzzle one day to whoever snuggles up in it. On the other hand I can understand how something like this could be bothering to you. Wow, that must have been a lot of work to take it all apart, but I’ve had many projects that the one little thing that I didn’t take out bothered me the whole time afterwards. Who knows if others would have noticed it. I found a mistake only recently in a quilt that that someone else made… and I have had for twenty years!
