2015 Finish #3 – Mini Ziggurat

Whoooo Hoooo!  I have my 3rd finish of 2015!  I was able to finish this at the February quilt retreat!  Friday was very productive with the quilting and binding of my Mini Ziggurat!

This project really challenged me.  I completed this entire project on my sewing machine.  I first blogged about the Mini Ziggurat project when I was sharing my struggle with project monogamy.

I am still learning to quilt on my domestic machine.  I have quilted a couple of mug rugs – this was just a larger version.  The Mini Ziggurat was very geometric and suited to straight lines.  I figured I could handle the straight lines.  (My FMQ still is lacking.  I really don’t expect it to get better with the Bernina Stitch Regulator still in the box.)

I really enjoyed the process!  There was only a few places that I had to rip out the quilting.

The quilting design shows up great on the dark fabric of the pieced back.  Ignore the extra white thread patches.  I used the automatic thread cutter and when I didn’t grab the tails, there seemed to be bunching.  I wasn’t too worried by it, remember it is the back!

Thanks Julie for being such a great quilt model!

About My Pieced Life

I am in love with all things quilting. My sewing room has many works-in-progress and a large stash of fabric. I have big plans and lots of ideas of creations I would like to make. My wonderful husband supports my obsession and Carson, my Australian terrier, keeps me company while I sew.
